Application registries must be filled out via the Graduate Office’s institutional software systems within the deadlines established by the calls for applications. Once registered, applicants will receive directions on how to continue with the application process. Each call for application will indicate the number of annual vacant slots, as well as the lines of research currently in course. Once applicant files are received, the Program Director will submit them to the Academic Committee, which is in charge of the admissions process.

Applicants must present the following documents in official formats (attached below):

          1. Completed university studies (copy of degree or certificate accrediting undergraduate or Master’s degree).

Criteria

The criteria for applicant selection will be published and publicly available. They include the following aspects, according to Evaluation Guidelines:

          • Academic background (ideally, applicants are expected to rank within the top 10% of his/her class).
          • The applicant’s prior experience in teaching, research, publications, and participation in congresses.
          • Accreditation of language proficiency will be positively valued.
          • The ability to reasonably and clearly express a research topic and its respective objectives and hypothesis..
          • The content of the letters of recommendation.

Foreign students from countries where Spanish is not the official language must accredit an adequate level of Spanish in order to participate in DEI-UV activities without major setbacks.

Processes

The admissions process, managed by the Academic Committee, is designed to evaluate applicant suitability for the DEI-UV in order to adequately uphold program objectives. The first stage of this process consists of evaluating applicant background records, which will determine a cut-off score for pre-selection. In the second stage, pre-selected applicants will be called for personal interviews meant to verify the fulfillment of the admissions requirements.

Each stage weighs in 50% of the final applicant score. The Academic Committee will make its final selection based on these results, all the while considering diversity criteria, primarily in gender, region, age, and work area..

Once the selection process is complete, the results will be informed through institutional means. Selected candidates will then be able to formalize their program enrollment fee.
